Home Learning:

Reading
Reading at home has a huge impact on your child's progress and we ask that your child reads to an adult at least 3 times a week for 1/2 hour ever session - every night is even better! Please sign your child's reading record (recording the page numbers they have written) and write any appropriate comments. This could be how well they read or parts they found hard.

Spellings
Children will bring home spellings on a Friday. These will be linked to what they have been learning in their spelling sessions. It is important that they try to read and spell the words on the list.

Our News

A big welcome to all our new Year 5 children.  We are pleased to report that they have settled well and are a credit to Year 5.  In the Autumn term, they will be learning all about The Vikings. The children will be visiting the Danelaw Village at Murton Park (York), which is a super day where they will experience just what life was like first hand in the longhouses.  They will also experience how the Viking settlements interacted with the Anglo Saxons. In school, they will study The Vikings in a fun and interactive way.  English will also link to The Vikings when and where possible - starting off with Viking sagas.   In Maths, they will focus on place value upto 1,000,000  and learn new effective methods for the four number operations in context through problem solving activities. They will also study graphs and tables and measure (area/perimeter) in context.  In Science, they will study light and properties and changes of materials.  They will also learn about puperty.
